Ki-Do Kick-A-thon for Stewards Of Hope
In December of 2008, Ki-Do Karate held a kick-a-thon raising approx. $3126.00 for Stewards of Hope International, which is a local tax-exempt charity supporting nearly 300 orphans living in extreme poverty in Venezuela. These orphans had their home flooded in November and lost most everything. “We decided to do the kick-a-thon for the orphans because they were in great need ,” said David Daiber, Master Instructor of Ki-Do Karate.
“I am very proud of all the students who participated demonstrating the Black Belt Principle of Service. I often get weird looks when others hear about service being a Black Belt Principle. I guess most people think of karate as only what they see on TV and at the movies. A Black Belt knows that service is the greatest source of happiness and that it demonstrates a high level of character and strength and it is not a sign of weakness. To provide service to others requires the mastery of many other Black Belt Principles, such as: respect, modesty, responsibility, self-discipline, self-confidence, courage, and honor. I am extremely proud of my students for living the principles and making a difference in someone else’s lives. That is what Ki-Do Karate is all about.”
